PedigreeSoft.com 2.0 Development
We're excited to announce that development is underway for what we're
tentatively calling PedigreeSoft.com 2.0. It's been an amazing year for
PedigreeSoft.com as it has advanced not only a new concept in the
genealogy software industry, but also in the field of web-based
applications as a whole. However, particularly in the last year, we've seen
many advancements in the tools and technologies that will allow us to
build more user-friendly, intuitive and generally better web-based
software. We are carefully examining these new technologies, including
Web 2.0, Ajax, Flex, and Flash, to name a few, to determine how we can
utilize these breakthroughs and our existing expertise to create not only a
richer user experience but to provide tools and features that will be able
to revolutionize how you use the Internet to research genealogy.
Over the last year that we've been live, we've received a volume of
customer feedback; however, we need more. This point is traditionally
where the gap between a software's features and the needs of the users
widens. As software designers and devlopers, we're quite good at what
we do: find ways to make software to meet the desires of the end users.
But honestly, collectively, we don't actually spend as much time using our
own software as you, our customers do. Therefore, we feel like you, our
customers, are the experts on genealogy software and what features, big
ones or even simple things we've overlooked, would make your tasks
easier or your time more effectively spent. Have you ever been using any
software program and asked yourself "why did they do it this way?" Well,
the software deisgners may have had a good reason, or simply, no one
suggested to them a better way. So here's your chance: Tell us what we
should improve in PedigreeSoft. Tell us what frastrates you, what would
make your life easier, what you imagine the ideal genealogy software
would be able to do. I would like to start this as an open discussion here
under this category. Feel free to comment on this post or posts by others.
Here's your chance to contribute to software that works for you, on your
terms. We'll do our best to integrate your ideas into an effective product.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Matt Garner
